Meet Dr. Merheb

Dr. Nizar Merheb is a board certified Facial Cosmetic Surgeon (ABCS) and a board certified Maxillofacial Surgeon (ABOMS). Dr. Merheb pursued the art and science of Maxillofacial and Facial Cosmetic Surgery in the European tradition where both medical and dental education are required. Following graduation from the University of Illinois, College of Dentistry, Dr. Merheb continued his education at Emory University Medical School in Atlanta, Georgia, where he received his medical degree and general surgical training. He completed his residency in Maxillofacial Surgery at Emory. He then further advanced his surgical skills by completing a high-tech, specialized fellowship program devoted to Facial Aesthetic Surgery accredited by the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery with Dr. T.W. Evans, a world renowned facial cosmetic surgeon, in Columbus, Ohio.

Dr. Merheb has an appointment to the professional staff at OSF Saint Francis, a Level 1 Trauma Center, where he serves as a member of the trauma committee and is routinely involved in treating the most complex facial trauma cases. He is also active at Methodist and Proctor Hospitals. Dr. Merheb is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria.

Along side of Dr. Merheb’s academic responsibilities, he is a fellow The American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and a fellow of The American College of Surgeons (FACS), both extremely prestigious organizations. He consistently serves many community organizations such as Give Kids a Smile Day (GKAS).

In his new state-of-the-art facility, Dr. Merheb combines the art and science of Cosmetic and Maxillofacial Surgery to provide his patients with complete facial analysis and recommendations for treatments that will achieve both a functional and aesthetically pleasing outcome. In addition, his dental background allows him to work closely with dentists for a complete makeover of the face. He routinely and safely performs both surgical and non-invasive procedures in a private setting.
