Midface Lift elevates and reshapes the cheeks from level of eyes to mouth. It is often performed in conjunction with an Endoscopic Browlift. A cheek implant may be recommended for some patients. Small incisions are placed behind the hairline and inside the mouth. There are no visible scars on the bare skin.
How is the procedure done?
A Midface Lift is a surgical procedure performed in our office outpatient surgery suite. It is performed through small incisions behind the hairline. The state-of-the-art camera is used by Dr. Merheb to elevate and reshape the cheeks by looking at a TV monitor. Sometimes a cheek implant is inserted through an incision inside the mouth to enhance the results and accentuate the areas of the cheekbones. This procedure is not limited to older individuals only, but it is also performed for younger individuals who have inherited a predisposition toward flattened cheeks at an early age.
How will you look after surgery?
Patients wear a head dressing for 24 hours only. Following the removal of the head dressing, a tennis headband is worn for four days then followed by seven days at night only. Swelling usually resolves within five to seven days. Faint bruising may persist beyond one week but can be easily covered by makeup or camouflaged by wearing eyeglasses. Minimal discomfort can be expected following the procedure, which can be controlled with medications prescribed by your surgeon.
